Yes, you can play live dealer blackjack online in Canada, but the rules depend on your province. Ontario runs a regulated market for private operators. Alberta opened a similar market in July 2026. Other provinces mainly offer their own government-run sites.

Live blackjack uses a real dealer, real cards and a video stream. You place bets on screen and can chat to the dealer. It is the closest online game to a casino table.

This page explains how the rules work in plain terms, which live blackjack sites we list, and what to check before you sign up. We are not lawyers and this is not legal advice. We do not say any offshore site is legal.

Important: according to our data, none of the casinos listed below accepts players from Ontario. Casumo also does not accept players from Alberta. If you live in either province, check your provincial options first.

You must be 19 or over in most provinces (18 in some, such as Alberta and Quebec). Check your province’s rules. If gambling is a problem for you, free and confidential help is available. In Ontario, call ConnexOntario on 1-866-531-2600, any time.

Is online blackjack legal in Canada?

It depends on where you live. Under section 207 of the Criminal Code, provincial governments may conduct and manage gaming in their province. Each province decides how that works inside its borders. Running gambling that is not authorised in this way can be an offence.

Ontario

Ontario has had a regulated online market since 4 April 2022. The AGCO registers operators, and iGaming Ontario signs operating agreements with them. An operator needs both before it can offer games to people in Ontario. OLG also runs its own site. The sites on this page do not accept Ontario players, so they are not options for Ontario residents.

Alberta

Alberta passed the iGaming Alberta Act in 2025. According to the Government of Alberta, the regulated market launched on 13 July 2026. Operators register with AGLC and sign an agreement with the Alberta iGaming Corporation. PlayAlberta remains the province’s own site. Casumo does not accept Alberta players, per our data.

Other provinces

Most other provinces run their own sites, such as PlayNow in British Columbia and Espacejeux in Quebec. Rules and player protections differ, so check your provincial lottery or gaming regulator.

What about offshore sites?

Sites licensed outside Canada are not regulated by your province. We do not say they are legal. If there is a dispute, a provincial regulator may not be able to help you. Check the terms, the licence details and the site’s list of restricted regions before you register.

Live Blackjack Providers

Evolution

Evolution supplies live blackjack to many casinos. It runs studios in several countries. Its live tables usually seat seven players. If a seat is taken, some tables let you use Bet Behind to back another player’s hand. Many tables also offer side bets such as 21+3. Rules, deck counts and limits vary by table, so read the rules panel before you play.

Evolution also offers tables in other languages. For most Canadian players the English-language tables are the simplest choice.

Pragmatic Play Live

Pragmatic Play entered live casino in 2018, when it bought Extreme Live Gaming from Novomatic. It now runs its own live tables, including blackjack. Whether you see them depends on the casino. See all live blackjack providers.

Payment Methods

Canadian players commonly see debit and credit cards, Interac, Instadebit and iDebit offered at online casinos. Not every site accepts every method, and options can depend on your province and the site’s licence.

Check the cashier page of each casino for the methods, fees, limits and withdrawal times that apply to you. Some banks block gambling transactions on cards. Only use accounts and cards in your own name.
